Mobile UWB,

New Standard for Positioning

Starting in 2026, global smartphone manufacturers are preparing to progressively open the UWB capabilities embedded in mobile devices in a public and open form. This marks a turning point where service providers can develop UWB-based services directly using smartphones, without requiring any additional tags or dedicated hardware.

Where UWB Works

What becomes possible as UWB opens up?

01

Retail & Commerce

UWB-based precise location technology enables detailed analysis of customer positions and movement paths within stores. This allows retailers to capture offline behavioral data—such as where customers dwell and how they navigate the space—that has been difficult to measure with conventional technologies. These insights can be directly applied to location-based content delivery, personalized coupons, and in-store marketing strategies, ultimately improving customer experience and driving sales performance.

Exhibitions, Cultural Venues

In exhibition halls, museums, and public venues, UWB enables indoor navigation and smart docent services that guide visitors based on their real-time location. Visitors can receive contextual information automatically as they move through the space, enhancing engagement and understanding. In addition, AR-based location-linked content allows physical spaces and digital experiences to be seamlessly integrated, creating more immersive and interactive visitor experiences.

Offices, Buildings & Facilities

In office buildings and facilities, UWB technology can be applied to access control, security, and asset location management. By leveraging precise indoor positioning of employees, visitors, and equipment, organizations can build more sophisticated security systems and improve operational efficiency. These capabilities form a key foundation for smart building and facility management solutions.

Platform & Mobile Service

The UWB Demo Kit provides a practical PoC environment for platform providers and mobile service companies to validate new UWB-based services in advance. Without the need for additional tags or complex infrastructure, services can be tested directly using smartphones’ built-in UWB capabilities. This enables organizations to prepare for next-generation location-based services in anticipation of publicly available UWB APIs expected around 2026.

Smartphones Are UWB-Ready

Starting with the iPhone 11 and later models (excluding SE) released in 2019, global smartphone manufacturers—including Apple, Samsung, and Huawei—have been integrating UWB as a core feature in their flagship devices.

Compared to conventional Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technologies, UWB offers:

  • Centimeter-level precise positioning

  • Enhanced security

  • Optimized performance for short-range and indoor environments

With these advantages, UWB has emerged as a standard technology for next-generation location-based services.

UWB Anchor

UWB Anchor is a reference infrastructure that receives UWB signals from smartphones, serving as a positioning baseline for indoor environments. Like GPS for outdoor positioning, Anchors enable indoor positioning, with high precision achievable when four Anchors are deployed.

One More Thing
You Need.

Even with UWB chips built into smartphones, high-precision positioning requires additional infrastructure to work reliably. With UWB Anchors and a positioning SW engine, real-time location tracking and analysis become possible.

Positioning SW Engine

The Positioning SW Engine calculates location coordinates from Anchor signals. By converting relative positions into real-world coordinates, it enables real-time tracking as well as movement paths, dwell analysis, and heatmap visualization.

Preparation defines the UWB advantage.

The OneCheck Demo Kit enables rapid, real-world validation of UWB-based services as mobile UWB services move into full-scale deployment.

Demo Kit includes

  • 4 × UWB Anchors

  • GeoSpace Positioning SW (Demo / PoC License)

  • Installation guide and technical documentation
